When freelance work dries up and the job market doesn’t take you seriously, you’re forced to retreat and learn before stepping out into the field again. Education is a lifelong process, and it becomes even more important during such periods. Addressing any gaps in your knowledge can also prepare you for a bigger role in life.
In my case, personal and professional developments have necessitated a return to life’s classroom. Neither school nor college prepares us for these moments, let alone recommending the literature to read during this time and in what order.
Thankfully, a few experts have curated the resources for us so we don’t have to do the work. One such person is Mark Tilbury, a UK-based millionaire and content creator, known for his expertise in business, personal finance, and investing. He’s compiled a list of 40 books to read to become rich, prescribing the order in which to read them. The list looks legit; the first book I read from it turned out to be the right choice for me when I picked it up last year, given my growth levels at the time.
Tilbury’s personal-finance advice on his various social-media channels is sound for the most part, but as is advisable while following every financial expert, discretion is mandatory. In this case, though, the book list is undoubtedly beneficial for those looking to up their money-mindset game and build high-demand skills. Here’s the video naming all 40 titles that should be on your personal-development and wealth-building reading list, in the recommended order:
If you’d like to listen to these books, consider subscribing to Audible (click here for a free trial if you haven’t signed up yet). It’s a convenient way to integrate consuming all this invaluable content into your daily routine.
Once I finish reading/listening to all the mentioned books, ideally in the recommended order, I’ll do a follow-up blog post detailing my experience. I may also review the books individually or create separate blog posts on each. Obviously, it’s going to take time, as fiction, too, is on my reading list. (Know all about my #25BookChallenge here.)
So, which is your favourite personal-finance and wealth-building book? Which one do you swear by? Is it on the list or not? Do share your picks in the comments below.
